“More attractive” is what many of my giddy students think of the color red; anyway, Bustor, you missed some spaces after punctuation, one may see that as a sort of flaw for readability (wayfinding for texts).
It is a solid book—series editor, Ellen Lupton. I recommend that you buy this book, that you read it, and next, donate your copy to (or buy another for) your local library.

Frankly these are the building blocks of the initial Designing work.One who understands what the signs mean can even innovate some and make them more attractive for certain user groups e.g.children,drawing school,media studios etc.
Seems to be a good book.
